University of Genova. He is Full Professor of Political Science at the University of Genoa. He has been Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute. His fields of research are Italian and European defense and foreign policy, contemporary warfare, strategic culture, party politics and security issues. He provides courses (Foreign Policy Analysis, Security Studies, EU Political System, Comparative Research Methods) to BA, MA, and PhD students.His articles have appeared, among others, on “International Relations, “Government&Opposition”, “European Political Science Review”, “Journal of European Public Policy”, “Foreign Policy Analysis”, “International Peacekeeping”, “International Studies Review”, “Mediterranean Politics”, “Armed Forces&Society”. Among his books: “Italian Military Operations Abroad: Just Don’t Call it War”, with P. Ignazi and G. Giacomello (Palgrave 2012); “Adapt, Improvise, Overcome? The Transformation of Italian Armed Forces in Comparative Perspective”, with F.N. Moro (Ashgate 2015); and “Italian Foreign Policy under Matteo Renzi: A Domestically-Focused Outsider and the World”, with J.Davidson (Lexington 2019). Is Full Professor of Political Science at the University of Genoa. His research focuses on political regimes and civil wars. He teaches courses (International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Strategic Studies) to BA, MA, and PhD students. His articles have appeared in journals such as the European Review of Economic History, Rivista Italiana di Politiche Pubbliche, and Italian Political Science. He is the author of several monographs, including Institutions and Democratization: The Advent of Mass Politics in Britain and Germany (FrancoAngeli, 2000); Central Banks and Democracy: Institutions, Money, and Political Competition, with G.B. Pittalunga (Hoepli, 2004); and Power, Uncertainty, Identity: Elements of Political Science (Mondadori, 2023).

Is a Ph.D. Doctor of International Relation and Full Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Catania, where she serves as Vice-Rector. She is also Jean Monnet Professor of European Union Policy and Member of the Executive Committee of the International Political Science Association (IPSA). She is a member of the Steering Committee of the Italian European Studies Association (AUSE) and member of the Editorial Board of the “Peace Human Rights Governance Journal”. She leaders the Italian research group working on the H2020 EU-funded research project “PROTECT The Right to International Protection. A Pendulum between Globalization and Nativization?” Francesca Longo has authored and co-edited a list of publications in the field of political science and international relations. Her primary research focuses on European policy on migration and asylum and the European Union political system. Moreover, she authored and co-edited articles and a book on Italian foreign policy and Italian migration policy in Italian and international Journals. She has held the DAAD fellowship at the Cairo University and a visiting professorship at the University of Liege.

Is Full Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the School of Advanced Defence Studies, CASD in Rome. She is also Visiting Professor of Political Violence and Terrorism and Civil Society and Sustainability at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. She is Chair of the ECPR. She is Adjunct Professor of Global Civil Society at the University of Catania. She also teaches Comparative Politics at Tor Vergata University, Rome and International Politics at the University of Padua. She has held a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Delaware, US; a DAAD fellowship at The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt, and a Marie Curie fellowship at UFSC, Brazil. She has been visiting researcher at the EU Centre of Excellence at the University of Alberta, Canada and at Loughborough University, UK. Her primary research focuses on action and influence on global politics by non-state actors, both positive (civil society organisations and NGOs) and negative (organised crime and terrorism). As for policy impact, she serves as a consultant to the Radicalisation Awareness Network Policy Support (RAN PS), EU Commission and to the UN Working Group on the use of mercenaries.

Is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Siena, where he teaches Public Diplomacy and Political Communication. He is the Deputy Director of the Lab for Political and Social Analysis (LAPS) and serves as Chairman of the University of Siena’s Survey Policy Committee. Olmastroni has published articles in several academic journals, including the European Journal of Political Research, Public Opinion Quarterly, Swiss Political Science Review, Italian Political Science Review, as well as in volumes published by Routledge and SAGE. His monograph, “Framing War: Public Opinion and Decision-Making in Comparative Perspective”, has been nominated for several international book awards. He has also contributed to numerous European projects under the EU framework programmes. His main research interests include public opinion – particularly in relation to international events – political communication, international relations, political research methods, and deliberative democracy.

He is a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Siena. Since 2022, he has also been Adjunct Professor at Bocconi University. His research agenda lies at the intersection between International Relations and Comparative Politics. He is also an expert of quantitative methods. His articles have been published on numerous international journals including “Review of International Organizations”, “Foreign Policy Analysis”, “Conflict Management and Peace Science”, “International Peacekeeping”, “West European Politics”, and “Government and Oppositions”. In 2022, he has published a book on the party politics of military interventions in Italy, titled “Conflitti Consensuali: I Partiti Italiani e gli Interventi Militari”

Matteo Mazziotti di Celso is a Research Fellow at the University of Genoa, where he also earned a PhD in Security and Strategic Studies with a dissertation on the domestic deployment of the Italian Armed Forces. Prior to his academic career, he served for nine years in the Italian Army, in the Engineer Corps, reaching the rank of Captain, before transitioning to the Army Reserve Officer Corps.

He collaborates actively with several military institutions, including the Centre for Maritime Military Studies (Centro Studi Militari Marittimi), where he is a Visiting Research Fellow, and the Centre for Higher Defence Studies (Centro Alti Studi Difesa), for which he has undertaken various teaching activities. He also works with international institutions such as the NATO Defence College, where he is a Junior Associate Fellow.

Matteo is also a Senior Fellow at the Geopolitica.info Research Centre, where he coordinates the Europe Programme. Starting in 2026, he will take up a postdoctoral researcher position at the Institut de Recherche Stratégique de l’École Militaire (IRSEM) in Paris. His latest book is Military Policing in Advanced Democracies: Italy in Comparative Perspective (Routledge).

Is a PhD student at the University of Siena. His main research interests include the European Union’s public diplomacy, digital diplomacy and public opinion studies. His thesis focuses on the evolution of the European Unions’ public diplomacy following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He is also a Junior Researcher at the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), where he focuses on Italian foreign policy and Italy’s relations with African countries within the framework of the Mattei Plan.

Is a Ph.D. Candidate in Security and Strategic Studies (SSS) at the University of Genoa. He is also a Research Fellow at the Centro Einstein di Studi Internazionali. His interests revolve around the transformation of international interventions, Italian and European security and foreign policies. He also focuses on French-speaking subsaharan Africa. He has written for numerous outlets, such as Osservatorio Politica Italiana, InsideOver, Geopolitica.info, The Federalist Debate, Rassegna dell’Arma dei Carabinieri, Cahiers di Scienze Politiche, Human Security e European Review of International Studies.

Is a PhD student in Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Siena. His research focuses on the alignment between political supply and demand, particularly in relation to environmental policies. He holds a Master’s degree in Data Analytics for Politics, Society, and Complex Organizations (DAPS&CO) from the University of Milan. In addition to his academic work, he serves as data manager at the Laboratory of Political and Social Analysis (LAPS).

Francesca Citossi, PhD, is a researcher, analyst, lecturer and advisor. She is currently senior Researcher and Lecturer at IRAD, Institute for Research and Analysis of the Italian Ministry of Defence, regularly teaching at CASD, Centre for Higher Defence Studies, and at the European Security Defence College courses.

She is Subject Expert in Political Science and IRs, member of the Scientific Board of the COCIM course (Civ-Mil Cooperation) and Editorial Committee member of CASD’ Geopolitics Dictionary.

She teaches and publishes on International Relations – International Organizations, Civil-Military cooperation, Middle East, Strategic Analysis, Crisis monitoring, Peace Operations, Humanitarian Emergencies and Human Rights.

She earned her Ph. D. in Humanitarian Emergencies, Refugees and IDPs at the University of Bologna. At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill she studied Peace, War and Defence. She earned a Master degree in Intelligence and International Relations in the UK and a Master degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Intervention. She specialized at George Mason University, University of York, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa and Siracusa Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights.

She worked for UN agencies, UN Department of Peace Keeping Operations, NATO, NGOs, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italian Civil Protection and in the private sector as business development analyst. She carried out missions in South Africa, Kosovo, Pakistan, Sudan, Togo, Lebanon and Afghanistan
